Synopsis:

Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce) is an ex-insurance investigator tracking down the man who raped and murdered his wife. However, Leonard suffers from a rare, severe form of anterograde amnesia caused by a traumatic head injury sustained during the attack. While he retains memories prior to the incident, he is completely incapable of forming new memories, with his recall resetting every few minutes. To navigate his chaotic world and systematically hunt his target, Leonard relies on a rigid system of Polaroid photographs, handwritten notes, and permanent body tattoos. As he navigates a murky web of deception involving a shadowy contact named Teddy (Joe Pantoliano) and a cynical bartender named Natalie (Carrie-Anne Moss), Leonard must piece together the truth in a world where even his own memory cannot be trusted.
