In 1971, Phil Miller formed Matching Mole. Following this, he formed Hatfield and the North and later migrated to National Health.

Digging in is a solo studio album with musical input from the other musicians. All the tunes are computer driven but this is no Pet Shop Boys style mechanized drivel. The compositions are, as usual, uncompromisingly complex and ambitious and require a huge amount of musical skill and programming expertise. The four musicians manage to stamp their personalities on the grey fields of computer data, never letting the technology get in the way of the music. The results are magnificent - sort of like listening to In Cahoots in a virtual reality nightclub.
