Again, this is a CD of a German band which can be placed in the famous power metal genre. A genre especially famous in Germany with bands like Edguy, Avantasia, Gamma Ray and Kamelot. Drummer of the band is Simon Michael, who some of you will know as the drummer of the also German medieval outfit Subway To Sally. At age 11 he already started with Silverlane, together with his brother on guitar and his sister Dodo on keyboards. The young band debuted in 2005 with the self financed concept album ‘Legends Of Safar’. Despite his busy work with Subway To Sally, Michael remained true to his first band, especially to give room to his love for progressive, melodic and symphonic music. With new members on Michael’s side, the band now releases her second album.

‘My Inner Demon’ is the title and it is filled with all the metal clichés that you would expect from a German power metal band. Many semi-speedy pounding sauced with keyboard flings, harmonic vocals, flashy solos and a few up tempo parts along with double bass drums: it is all happening. I must say that the vocals by Ecki Singer are not bad at all. His voice fits with the music perfectly and he can really sing. However, I should also note that the material is not equally interesting. Unfortunately there are several thirteen-in-a-dozen songs on this disc (for example songs like 'Miracle' and 'Full Moon'). However, there are also two really beautiful songs on the CD. Perhaps accidental, but with the two piano ballads on this CD the band shows real quality (´Tears Of Pain' and 'Slowly'). Both songs could easily have featured on any Savatage album. The pounding 'Kingdom Of Sand' (also with Savatage influences) is also worth listening to. Fans of the power metal genre can buy this CD blindly, others should listen first.
