Итак - группа Криса Сквайра и Стива Нарделли - The Syn. Пересказывать историю группы - занятие зело неблагодарное, потому как ребяты лабают аж с 1965 года... Вкратце - в ней поигрывали Сквайр с Аланом Уайтом и Тони Бэнксом до Yes. И в этом концерте собрался канонический состав (нет, к сожалению, Бэнкса). Играли в Бостоне, в Somerville Theatre, 19 января 2006 года. Это был первый реюнион за 40 лет. И, кстати, уже в апреле напечатали ДВД, торопыги. Издан диск был на собственном лейбле группы - Umbrello Records.

Хороший концерт. Хороший звук. В допах - интервью, фотогалерея. Правда, фотогалерея представляет скриншоты с этого же концерта... Зачем?

Кстати - у Сина пару месяцев назад новый СД вышел, там вроде б Есовцев никого нет, но появился женский вокал.

It was nearly four decades ago that the members of A? The Syn came together at the crossroads of 60s psychedelia

and pop. They quickly found themselves on stage at the legendary Marquee club, performing in front of London's music cognoscenti and sharing bills with the likes of Pink Floyd, The Who and Jimi Hendrix. Their tenure was brief. But it was golden.

A couple of underground classics "Flowerman", "14 Hour Technicolour Dream". Some wicked live sets. And then they were gone. Other bands would follow in their wake (most notably Yes, featuring Syn members Chris Squire and Pete Banks) but fans of early British art rock would always remember The Syn fondly.

Then, almost forty years later, the unimaginable happened: They were reunited. The passing of original keyboardist Andrew Jackman proved a catalyst to revisit the band's old material. Original members Steve Nardelli (singer/guitarist), Banks (guitar) and Martyn Adelman (drums) enlisted the aid of Gerard Johnson (recording engineer, keyboardist, lifelong Yes obsessive) to assemble the compilation CD, Original Syn, effectively tidying up old business. But it was a subsequent chance writing spell in London between Nardelli and Squire (by now, well-known for his long-running bass/vocal duties in Yes) that revealed to the two childhood friends their ability to still conjure some of the old magic. Could it be they still had something to contribute to the Syn's legacy?

Indeed they did. The resulting CD, Syndestructible, was their first-ever complete album of new material. For fans of the genre, it was a revelation. A stellar touring lineup was promptly assembled, comprising Squire, Nardelli, Johnson, guitar-slinger Shane Theriot (Neville Brothers), and Squire's Yes rhythm partner Alan White on drums. The ensuing live dates in the US (in fact, the first time the band ever played in North America) surprised everyone with their display of superb musicianship and majestic treatment of material both new and old. Witness epic new track "The Promise", the as-yet unreleased "Silent Revolution", or vintage stomper "Grounded".

This show at Boston's historic Somerville Theater, on a cool winter's night in January, finds the band in remarkably good form. It was one of the first few shows they'd played together yet the band is already firing on all cylinders with the smaller, intimate#enue suiting them perfectly. Squire, in particular, seems to revel in the relaxed setting: Not only does it afford he and White a refreshing opportunity to explore their partnership outside of the usual Yes material but, moreover, enables the rest of the band to really exhale and enjoy themselves in front of an audience of devoted fans. Capturing the occaflorffoPposterity, this DVD adds an important new chapter to the story of one of Britishirock's great (nearly lost) treasures. Ladies and Gentlemen, we give you The Syn, live in concert. It's been a lifetime in the making. Enjoy.
