После выхода альбома Where We Stand (1999), сменяется вокалист. Вместо Бэна Добсона в группу приходит 19-летний Райан Ки (Ryan Key). После этого музыканты выпускают мини-альбом "Still Standing EP"(2000). Интересно, что этот альбом был первым шагом к „новой“ группе, после которого музыканты начали экспериментировать со стилями музыки.

Самым удачным альбомом команды считается Ocean Avenue(2003), выпущенный в жанре альтернативного рока, который стал дважды платиновым.
В 2005 году из группы уходит гитарист Бен Харпер и его сменяет Питер Моузли (Peter Mosely). Альбом Lights and Sounds, выпущенный в 2006 году, был выпущен всего за год до того, как Yellowcard выпустила свой новый альбом — Paper Walls, который официально появился в продаже 17 июля 2007 года. В одной из песен этого альбома задействован дедушка вокалиста группы — Райана Ки (песня «Dear Bobbie»), а песня «Paper Walls» рассказывает о том, как Yellowcard выбираются из своих финансовых затруднений, начавшихся после выхода Ocean Avenue.
Стоит заметить, что когда музыканты стали знаменитыми, они не перестали давать свои концерты в школах и вузах США
17 октября 2007 года фанаты с горечью узнают, что Питер Моузли покидает группу. Вместо него на бас-гитаре временно выступает Джошуа Портмэн (Joshua Portman), что впрочем не мешает группе выпустить новый Live-альбом «Live From Las Vegas At The Palms».

Собственная героиня
В клипах песен «Ocean Avenue» и «Rough Landing, Holly» снимается одна и та же девушка, фигурирует один и тот же портфель (с изображением овцы), и даже одна и та же комната. Следуя логике, девушку зовут Холли (это имя фигурирует в названии второй песни). Также есть еще одна песня про данную девушку, где она умирает - «Holly Wood Died». Также фотография девушки, исполняющую роль героини, украшает обложку альбома «Ocean Avenue»

Песни-посвящения

Одна из песен альбома «Paper Walls», «Shadows and Regrets», посвящена другу солиста группы (Райана Ки) Скотту Шедду,который погиб в автокатастрофе.
Песня «Dear Bobbie» (альбом «Paper Walls») посвящена дедушке Райана Ки, а песня «Life of a Salesman» (альбом «Ocean Avenue») - отцу.
Настоящее Время
После перерыва, который длился почти два с половиной года, группа подписала контракт с леблом Hopeless Records и работает над новым альбомом, который выйдет в начале 2011.
