The name Nommos is on everyone’s lips lately...
The Nommos are Ariane Macavoy (France/India) and Goa Gil (USA/India).
They have established the Nommos back in 1996 with the first release "Po Tolo" (We
have watched the skies and waited!).Released on several compilations including "The
Language of Light" / Ceiba, "Destination Israel” / BNE and on Goa Gil's mix "Spiritual
Trance Vol. 2 / Fairway. Their next release "Amma" was a big hit 1997 and was also
included on Mark Allan's Return to the Source mix "Shamanic Trance". "Djembe” from
1998 also got a world wide exposure and was included on Goa Gil's mix "Forest of the
Saints" / Avatar. Their latest hit “Here He Comes” appears on Goa Gil's new mix
"Towards the One" / Avatar and is the first Breed from the new album. Goa Gil and
Ariane are former member of Kode IV that are responsible for the hit single "Near to the Divine" that was remixed later by Doof. Gil is one of the first trance DJs and a dominator of the Goa trance scene.

In 1985 Gil met Ariane in India. They have been together constantly ever since. Ariane is an African dance instructor and her keen interest in African Djembe drumming and west African traditional dance has big influence on their musical collaboration as The Nommos. Their rich psychedelic history and the many years involvement in tribal cultures music and dance have made their house in Goa/India a center of pilgrimage for many people from around the world including the local and international media and press who have need following Gil And Ariane for years since they are actually the trail blazers and dominant activists of the trance scene in Goa and worldwide. The two tour every year and bring their word and music across the world their appearances and presence are described by many as unforgettable.

The story of the Nommos has been passed on for generations. An ancient advanced civilization, intelligent beings who carry the visual appearance with similarity to a fish.

The ark of the Nommos who came from the star Serious B (8.6 light years from earth) it is said to have landed on earth north east of the Dogon country.
Digitaria is a tribal trance dance album that takes you to a journey and enables you to take a look inside the mysterious world of the Nommos. The concept of the Nommos is to redefine the ancient tribal ritual for the 21st century.

Despite my continual pleadings and assurances that I am a boda fida music journalist...*ahem* "no laughing at the back please" I was declined the pleasure of a promo copy of this release but its so good I just had to tell you about it anyway. Fans of Goa Gil will be pleased to know that his notoriously dodgy mixing style does not extend to the studio and along with Arianne have produced what I think of as the most deeply psychedelic album maybe ever. It's not light or easy going but each tune has a real purpose and direction. Absolutely bursting with hippy-bollox in the album name and inner sleve but thankfully all that comes out of the speakers is a unrelenting stream of seriously twisted psychedelia. The basslines are huge, and the absolutely bonkers synth patterns and atmos layers are just that. This is not fashionable. It's not classy.

But it IS abso-fucking-lutely tremendously banging and psychedelic, and will still sound like this for a long time - it's timeless. And it is truely having it. Overall the album is a proper excursion into the trance realms that are out there ~ lurking This is great.
