Группа была сформирована в 1985 году в Бостоне в следующем составе:

[spoiler="About The Mighty Mighty Bosstones"]
After an almost 4 year hiatus the best-dressed band from Boston (Dicky Barrett-Vocals, Joe Gittleman-Bass, Ben Carr-The Bosstone, Joe Sirois-Drums, Tim Burton-Saxophone, Roman Fleysher - Saxophone, Chris Rhodes-Trombone and Lawrence Katz-Guitar) are back with that infectious brand of fun only the Bosstones can deliver. The upcoming release from the MMB’s is indeed a DIY effort produced by Bosstone bass player Joe Gittleman. Medium Rare is filled with new tracks co-written by Barrett and Gittleman, as well as unreleased material and songs previously released only as Vinyl B-sides. Fittingly, the band has returned once again to its roots deciding to release it on independent label Big Rig Records December 2007.

December 2007 is shaping up to be a Mighty Mighty Bosstones fans dream as the band is also back with the "Hometown Throwdown" (already sold-out!) at The Middle East, kicking off on Wednesday, December 26th through Sunday, December 30th for a five-night stand.

The "Hometown Throwdown" is Boston’s biggest party of the holiday season featuring plastic Santas, dancing Menorahs and a holiday-themed backdrop adorning the stage. And of course, featuring a hard hitting, horn-driven, action packed five days of anthemic ska-punk delivered with care and conviction by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones as well as many other music performances...you never really know whose going to show up.
