Recently released on Game Two Records, the sludgy, heavy, slow to mid tempo'd, bark oriented sound of Cold Mourning has released "Lower Than Low", a dark trip into the doom metal sound. With a pitched, tell it like it is type of pissed off vocal style from guitarist / vocalist Mat, Cold Mourning takes some complex song structures mixed with some talented soloing to produce a solid effort of pure metal.

The production of this disc works on a professional level as well, allowing each of the tones to come through about as clean as they are going to be heard with this sludgy sound.

Some of the tracks move at a quicker pace than others with the disc opening with slightly more upbeat tune "Catacomb", but only to slow it down into some low end heavy roll in "Losing My Shadow" which brings in a slower guitar solo, punctuating the already prevalent darker than dark theme. The title track opens with a huge sounding wall of riffs moving into some up and down riffing added to Mat's most ambitious vocal work. Backed by guitarist Angelo, bassist Bruce, and the drummer simply known as UA, Cold Mourning has definitely brought forth an extremely heavy, layered sound which will certainly not win any kind of speed records with the slower feel.

The fifth track, "Seductive Embrace", hauls in some of the heaviest guitar tones on the disc as the main riff rumbles as if from the depths of a deep valley. This track defines the Cold Mourning feel with the chunk, multiple riff changes, and quick guitar accents. While certainly not something heard everyday, the talent of these guys pull this doom laden, leave it out in the cold, bass heavy sound off in fine fashion.
