Tiger Mask (1969) Original Music Master Tapes

Included here are transfers of 14 original music recording session master tapes of Tiger Mask (1969), composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi.

These tapes were the extent of what Toei Animation had in their archives of the music of the series as of late 1993, and contains over 4 hours of music. This is significantly more than what was released in the Natsukashi no Music Clip CD, which as of this writing is the only CD release of the soundtrack.

These tape transfers were extracted from the first two LaserDisc boxsets of Tiger Mask (LSTD01103 and LSTD01136). All recording was done digitally through TOSLINK onto a ZOOM U-44 to ensure a properly archived bitperfect capture.

Toei released a great many titles on LaserDisc with similar cases of music master tapes being included as bonuses, and I hope to be able to upload more. LaserDiscs won't last forever, and much of this music has never been rereleased since.

Master Tape List

Tape No. 1 (12:27)
Recorded on July 18, 1969.
Contains the full recording session of the "TV Size" version of the ending theme, "Orphan's Ballad" (「みなしごのバラード」). This recording session includes 5 takes of the track; Take 5 was the "OK" take used in the final show. In addition, this tape also contains the "TV Size" of the opening theme, "Tiger Mask" (「タイガーマスク」), and the TV Size Karaoke versions of the opening and ending themes.

Recorded on July 19, 1969.
Contains TV Size of the opening and ending theme. This seems to be the same takes as on Tape No. 1, but I included it just in case.
