AURA is an italian band that got formed in 1996 when three friends came up with the idea of playing progressive metal/rock with influences ranging from the 70's to the 90's... It's in 2008 that the band finally released their first album "A Different View From The Same Side" and gained the interest of the specialised medias and prog-fans. It took them almost 3 years to release their second album "Deliverance" which is not so long considering the quality and richness of their music ! With this album, AURA make up with the old-progressive tradition of the conceptual albums, this time, the story is about a man's dream (He travels through Palestine and lives again the sufferings of the Israeli people and Jesus Christ himself to reach his redemption at the end - What a programm !). Musically, influences are indeed ranging from bands like PINK FLOYD, ALAN PARSON PROJECT, GENESIS, YES, RUSH to more contemporary ones like SPOCK'S BEARD, (early-)DREAM THEATER, QUEENSRYCHE and VANDEN PLAS... and the result is simply tremendously SPLENDID ! This album goes beyond the simple idea of creating music, it's a trip through space & time - no joke ! Everything here is so delicate, subtil, refined - from the melodies to the vocals lines, guitar-solos, keyboard/piano parts... That's really Music with a capital M created to be carefuly LISTENED - the pleasure I got listening this album is just incredible... You just can't find a boring minute among the 50 ones that the album lasts ! The arrangements are all impressive, the created atmospheres are simply beautiful... "Deliverance" definitely has a magical aura and I'll never recommend enough this album to progressive & quality music fans, it'd be a shame missing this one !
