Guitars Volume 2 contains major, minor and other chords, in different positions, with both sustained and short versions. Also included are sustained and staccato single notes that you can use in combination with the standard chords to make variations, or just use as a solo instrument. Chords are strummed in both directions for the ultimate in guitar realism.

Chords include major, minor, dominant7, diminished and suspended4. Playing styles include short chords, held chords, strummed chords, and single note (both short and held). Chords are offered with down strokes and up strokes.

Guitars 2- Chords & Strums

We’ve tried to provide a useful, intuitive set of guitar chords and strums with this library.
Since we aren’t able to include every chord voicing and combination, we have also
included a full set of single notes, both sustained and short versions, sampled from every
fret. Use these to add to the chords and strums. With the single notes and included chords
you can make new chord combinations, arpeggios, or simply use the single notes on their
own.
Note to Gigasampler users: In the Gigasampler version all instruments are contained
within two banks. Since different instruments share some of the same chords and notes,
this avoids storing the same samples more than necessary.
We’ve sampled the following chords- major, minor, suspended 4th, dominant 7th and
diminished. They have been captured in various velocities with a down stroke and a
matching up stroke (down stroke, the pick hits the strings in this order: low E, A, D, G, B,,
high E. up stroke, the guitar starts with the high E and strums down to low E).
There are three types of playing styles:
Short - staccato with an emphasis on attack.
Long - sustained, with natural decay.
Strums - Separation between notes. In both directions you can hear the individual strings
being struck by the pick.
With the instrument named Chromatic all the minor chords are mapped to the lower keys
while major keys are on the upper registers of the keyboard. Select single notes are
sandwiched in between. This setup is useful when your arrangement jumps outside of
standard key signatures.
The “keyed” instruments contain the major, minor, dominant chords of the given key.
Read over this document carefully and then take some time to get used to the mapping
style. Once you’ve mastered the layout, it becomes pretty intuitive and can really sound
like a guitar part in your mix.
Try triggering long and short versions together. Notes_Long and Notes_Short triggered at
the same time, gives a really nice chorus effect and a big, beefy attack.
Ideally you will want to run these through some processing (like you would a regular
guitar). They sound great with a touch of reverb. We often run them through a POD Pro
when using them in our projects. There are a number of guitar modeling plug-ins on the
market now that work great with Guitars Volume 1 & 2. Check out IK Multimedia’s
Amplitube. It’s amazing!
