A shaggy-haired saxophonist, a maniac of a guitarist, an organist who looks remotely like the ideal son-in-law and a drummer who thinks Zen, these are the members of Mister Hyde. An unlikely combination, but durable against all the odds, despite their diverse activities. "Equatorial" rights are defended by Aly Keita from Mali, who plays the balaphon and Jean-Philippe Fanfant from the Caribbean, on drums. On "Baroud" they heat things up, creating a steamy exotic atmosphere... .
The instrumentation is original with its mixture of the flute, alto saxophone, Hammond organ and guitar, and makes Myster Hyde's sound distinctive compared to the "digital frenzy" so characteristic of many a so-called Jazz-Fusion group. Be that as it may, this group does not aim to arouse melancholy or revolutionary music; it simply wants to involve the listener in its driving musical energy... .
