Проект одного человека из финского города Лаппеэнранта. Группа была создана весной 2002 года на руинах старой банды BlackGoat’а Count Lähde. Первые записи BlackGoat записывал сам, но летом 2002 к нему присоединился барабанщик T. Bloodvengeance, который сыграл на половине песен с первого демо. В начале зимы 2003 Bloodvengeance покинул Goatmoon. BlackGoat сам записал 6 демо на протяжении 2002-2005 годов. Первый полноформатник был издан в конце зимы 2004 года лейблом Werewolf records (лейбл, организованный легендарным Werewolf'ом из Satanic Warmaster)
