This tutorial course focuses on mixing and mastering dance music.
Following on from the DVD Production Series Volume 2: Trance, comes the long awaited tutorial on mixing and mastering the trance track Sunset. This 3 hour video course is designed to be used in conjunction with the Dance Music Manual (first or second edition) and continues from the previous Trance release, showing how a track can be mixed and mastered.
The screen recording software was left running throughout the entire mixing and mastering process, so nothing is missed out and the DVD also contains all the audio channels from the original track allowing you to follow and develop upon the techniques used and discussed throughout.

"This is the first time I have seen anything like your tutorials. It opens the doors to a complete new level!"
"Just wanted to say an UBER HUGE thank you for making these videos. I've been playing around with music production for 10 years now and these tutorials are the ONLY ones that have taught me what I need to know to make a great track."
"I bought 5 DVDs...I bought all the tools you used, I opened my sequencer and made 2 tracks. I sent them to the record label which didn't even answer me before for my previous demos, they answered in less than 24hours. They were so surprised they couldn't believe I was a newcomer, they signed me for my release plus 3 of my future releases with a good royalty fee and 50 percent of all the earnings."
"I have a membership to Sonic Academy and bought Tim Allens Groove 3 series for Ableton. Nothing has compared to the depth of knowledge that Rick is sharing with his DVD's. It is evident from the very beginning that he really knows his stuff and and everything he says makes sense."
"I have just got my first tune signed and put it down to your DVD series raising my production skills."
"I have to say your DVD series is really great. I have been doing music like 4 year, but after I bought your "Progressive house dvd". I got inspired by it and now the song I made is getting published. The first song of mine that goes officially out!"
"It's one of the best tutorial videos I've ever watched. Rick makes fantastic progressive house sound. He's one of the best instructor you'll ever find. Watching this DVD once is better than watching 20 different Sonic Academy's tutorial videos. The DVD explains real in-depth production of progressive house. It can't be compared to other superficial tutorial videos out there."
"Its true what they say....its like sitting in on the projects with the pro`s!"
"I have come away from watching this DVD feeling like I have picked up those special secrets that most producers keep close to their chest. .."
"...there's one thing for sure, there simply no other place where I can get this information from!"
"After watching Fundamentals 1-4 and Trance DVD, I have to say that all of the testimonials are really spot on. The one thing I can add is that these DVDs really demystify the entire process. Making professional tunes takes a lot of time and effort to get right, and there is no magic bullet for anything."
"Love the DVD's, there just isn't anything like them out there."
"Since I had watched the DVD's, my very first session turned into a super fat loop, better than anything I had ever accomplished over 10 years of trying"
"This DVD is the best 'manual' ever. It's brilliant being able to punch up Ultrabeat again after watching the DVD and have an instant sense of familiarity with it."
"The amount of money I've put into this 'hobby' over the last 10 years, doesn't compare to the value I've already had from just three of the 8 DVDs in the anthology, and I can't wait to get back to the rest."
"Just wanted to send a message of thanks for the DVDs. I got them in the mail yesterday and have been glued to my computer screen ever since. They are exactly what I need. I've been stuck for the past few months and your tutorials are filling in the missing info I've been looking for."

Welcome to the Dance Music Production DVD course on Mixing and Mastering Trance
Mixing and mastering is viewed by many as a black art and a subject that can only be mastered by a select few engineers with access to a Ј100,000.00 studio desk. However, it is not beyond anyone' skill to record, mix and master a recording to a professional standard in a home studio environment provided you are armed with the right knowledge and have access to some basic equipment that is well within the reach of most budding engineers. Whilst we can't supply you with the equipment, this DVD, combined with the information in the Dance Music Manual, will arm you with the knowledge and approach required to produce professional quality recording in your home studio.
The DVD was filmed over a period of two days at my personal home studio. It was filmed entirely live, with the screencast software running in the background throughout the entire mixing and mastering of the music. In order to be able to mix and master through monitors and also speak into a microphone simultaneously took a substantial amount of work with phase cancellation. Therefore, there may be ocassions where there are volume discrepancies, we apologise in advance for this but it was unfortunately unavoidable and should not be considered a fault with the DVD.
This DVD is a continuation of Volume 2: Trance and picks up where the previous DVD left off, starting with a quick look at the arrangement before mixing. Whilst it is not necessary to have viewed the Trance DVD to follow along with all the techniques within this DVD, it is preferential since there are times when we discuss some of the techniques we employed during the production of the record.
In order to view this DVD, you will require Quicktime installed on your computer. This is available as a free download from
