The five-member German Brogues Irish punk band has released “The Devil’s Own Invention” their fourth album. Lead singer and violinist Paul Kuhn, guitarist Maik Wetzel, bassist Roger Witte, drummer Tony Ramenda and Kalle Barner on guitar and mandolin have arranged twelve well-known Irish songs as punk rock songs.According to the genre, it begins with a punk record of the Irish drinking song “Drink the Night Away” with a great chorus and Kuhns violin solo. The ears will be spared the melancholy ballad “Cliffs of Doneen” a little bit but then it continues with a rapid rhythm of drums, driving bass and electric guitar riffs pithy, the punky “Finnigan”. The instrumental “North Wind” is impressive with a great guitar solo to good old folk rock and “An Irish Country Home,” set to music as a classic rock ballad.Favorite is arranged as a rousing folk-rock “Step it out Mary,” is accompanied by the dramatic voice of Kuhn’s great rock music.The latest album by the punk rock brings Brogues Irish folk music into the living room. The songs are immaculately presented and definitely one for fans of the genre listening pleasure.
