The Elysian Vibes series has been away far too long, though after a three year intermission the series has come back with a bang in Elysian Vibes 5.
Unlike movies it seems electro compilations actually mature, grow and get better the longer the series goes.
There is nothing stale or boring about this Leigh Wood mixed classic, it is an album you can out on and tune out to or listen to in the background when hanging out with friends.
Chill-out music is often quite run-of-the-mill and “cut copy” but the atmosphere created by beautiful and subtle vocals and downtempo beats on Elysian Vibes 5 is nothing short of spectacular… in a lazy, relaxing way of course.
The album opens with Submotion Orchestra’s All Yours (Jack Sparrow remix), which is the perfect opening to set the tone, and a personal favourite track. Other highlights are Pravana’s excellent Sea Temple (Elysian Remix), Chris Coco’s Summer Sun and Afterlife’s Soulstice (Elysian Fields Mix).Elysian Vibes 5 is by no means a perfect album, but it is pretty close.
There is no single track that doesn’t fit in the compilation, it has been carefully and lovingly put together and the tracks flow seamlessly, despite being different artists they feel like they were written to be placed together.
This collection is pretty much a certainty to be loved by everyone who is a fan of chill- out, laid-back electro beats. And that’s a fact.
