The history of ArchiTorture dates back in 2005 when Anssi Kantola decided to form a band that would play Thrash Metal the way it should be played: fast, dangerous & lethal. The band was first know as ‘Treachery’, under which name it released two demos, ‘Tomb of Mankind’ and ‘Skeleton Transformer’, both in 2008. At the end of same year the band changed it’s name to ArchiTorture. In 2009 ArchiTorture began more frequent gigging and released a 5-song EP ‘Thrashing Through Your Mind’. Two years later, in 2011, ‘Circle of Aggression’ promo was released containing 3 songs showcasing the material of the upcoming full length.

After numerous gigs, ArchiTorture have had the honour to open up for such bands as Holy Moses, Necrodeath, Minotaur and Witheria as well as some of the greatest demo bands in Southern Finland. They have played in Jalometalli 2011 other bands in the line-up being Sodom, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Entombed, EvilDead, Exhumed, Cathedral etc.

ArchiTorture has now released ‘Spare No One’ full length album, which comprises of 8 riff based, old school, gut-ripping Thrash Metal songs played at neck-break speed, recorded & mixed by ourselves. If these songs don’t make you bang your head, then we will bang it!

Do you want your metal to be sterile, over-produced and played at machine-like precision? Then piss off, we bet you never really liked Thrash Metal!

Formally known as Treachery, this thrash band from Finland caused a bit of a stir for me initially. When I first played this release, I really wasn’t sure of its merits, although immediately palatable; the consistency was something that posed some issues. However, give this a few listens and this album really kicks ass. Thrash can come in many forms and when you mix late 80’s Exodus, early-Slayer and late 80’s Kreator, you gain a massive amount of pleasure from this tirade of energy.

The vocals are spot on, they sound American, but the sound is more European, i.e. filled with speed, but also a clever combination of riffs and time signature variations. ‘Sealed With Fire’ really hits the mark and when this band ‘Spare No One’ the release really hits its own money shot. ‘Axe Suicide’ which was featured on a recent Brutalism radio show gives you a solid impression of the band’s music. By being both youthful in energy and charm you can expect to be thrashing all around wherever venue you care to be listening to this album at the time, and frequently I might add.

Each chord struck, each lyric belted out has purpose. This was one of the problems with the recent thrash revival for me, there was no individual energy or vision as I was discussing with a peer recently. In ArchTorture you will find solace as they make the music and style their own and you will certainly find a tight band that has purpose with plenty of scope for growth based on this debut album.
