В 1991 году "The Irish Descendants" записали свой дебютный альбом "Misty Morning Shore" на независимом лейбле "Duckworth Records", который привлек внимание крупного лейбла "Warner Music". В 1993 году вышел релиз "Look To The Sea", а последовавший за ним "Gypsies and Lovers" в 1994 году, принес группе награды "Juno Awards" и "East Coast Music Awards". Далее, в 1996 году вышел альбом "Livin' On The Edge", который звучит в современном кантри-стиле. Затем, состав "The Irish Descendants" несколько раз терпел изменения и был на грани раскола, но в 2001 году, группа появилась в новом составе и выпустила альбом "Blooming Bright Star" с лейбла "Koch Records", спродюсированный Derek Harrington. В 2002 году вышел их рождественский альбом "The Gift", а в 2004 - "Across the Water" с лейбла "Kells Music".

В 2007 году "The Irish Descendants" выпустили альбом "Southern Shore". В 2010 году группа отметила 20-ти летний юбилей серией концертов в западной и центральной части Канады, а также появились на фольклорном фестивале в Сент-Джонсе, Ньюфаундленд и Лабрадор. На протяжении карьеры состав коллектива неоднократно менялся, как количеством музыкантов, так и их именами; но и в настоящий момент ребята продолжают регулярно выступать и принимают участие в различных фестивалях. Помимо фронтмена Con O'Brien в состав группы входят: Duncan Cameron, Robert Kelly и Dave Panting.
