Originally released in 1998, Taming the Tiger is Joni Mitchell’s sixteenth studio album. Recorded in 1997 and would be the last record of original material released by the Mitchell until 2007's Shine, as she entered a semi-retirement and has turned her focus to performing covers and various side projects.

Taming the Tiger marks the premiere of Joni’s synthesized guitar, which she took with her on the accompanying tour to perform older songs, often having to re-learn them in the process.
