Музыкальный коллектив The Tossers, который часто называют "американскими The Pogues", сформировался в Беверли (Beverly), одном из южных, населенных преимущественно ирландцами, кварталов Чикаго в 1993 году. Как мы видим, это произошло несколькими годами ранее их более известных коллег по цеху - Flogging Molly (1996, LA) или Dropkick Murphys (1997, Boston). Поэтому можно смело утверждать, что именно The Tossers являются первопроходцами т.н. "ирландского панка" на территории Соединенных Штатов, а их последователям лишь удалось развить изначальный успех банды Тони Даггинза.

Ранние песни The Tossers, действительно, очень напоминают The Pogues т.н. "золотого" периода второй половины 80-х. Но в то же время группе удалось выработать и свой оригинальный, нарочито неряшливый, стиль, характерный для рабочих предместий крупных мегаполисов. Видимо, вследствие социального происхождения, The Tossers - исключительно политизированная команда, о чем свидетельствует большая часть текстов их песен. В то же время, традиционные слезоточивые ирландские баллады также присутствуют в багаже группы. Вот как характеризует первый из представленных в этой раздаче альбомов группы авторитетный портал AllMusic.com: "If you have a conscience, songs like "The Ballad of N.A.T.O." will rouse it; if you have a heart, "Doctrines Outdated" will break it."

Первые альбомы группы The Pint of No Return (1994), We'll Never Be Sober Again (1996), Long Dim Road (2000) и The First League Out From Land (EP) (2001) получились несколько сыроватыми, выходили небольшими тиражами на столь же незначительных чикагских лейблах, поэтому в 2001 году лучшие песни этого периода были переизданы в компиляции Communication & Conviction - The Last Seven Years. А группа тем временем подписала контракт с куда более крупным инди-лейблом Thick Records, тем самым подтвердив очевидное: когда-то недооцененные, с конца 90-х The Tossers - одни из общепризнанных лидеров американского "ирландского панка". Свои сольные альбомы Тони и до сих пор выпускает на этом лейбле, в то время как его группа в 2005 перебралась под крыло Victory Records.

Последний на сегодня альбом On A Fine Spring Evening The Tossers выпустили в 2008 г., но тем не менее активно гастролируют по США и Канаде, а братья Даггинзы в сопровождении скрипачки Ребекки каждую первую пятницу месяца устраивают аккустические концерты в родном Abbey Pub, вокруг которого 19 лет назад все и начиналось.
