Hailing from Athens, Alabama, The Alabama Shakes are set to turn heads this spring with their debut album, Boys & Girls, which hits stores April 10 via ATO records. Having already won the hearts of fans and the adoration of the press with their self-titled EP – released on their own via Bandcamp in September of last year – you can expect to hear a lot more about the southern rock quartet in the coming months.

The new album was recorded at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville, and was produced by the band members, who’ve been playing together since high school.
Well steeped in true southern rock and roll, gospel, and blues music, the Alabama Shakes have been lauded for their 1960s throwback sound that emulates the rawness and emotion of bands from that era. On January 17 the band made the album’s opener, “Hold On,” available for streaming on their website, alongside the announcement of their album release and the slated release of a 7” single on Third Man later this month.
