The Panics победители ARIA award, инди-рок-группа родом из г. Перт, Западная Австралия, и в настоящее время живут в Мельбурне, штат Виктория.
Годы: с 2002 по настоящее времяГруппа начинала в то время как Джей Лаффер (тогда известный под своим фактическим именем, Джастин) и Дрю Вуттон учились в средней школе в Каламунда, внешний пригороде Перт, Западная Австралия.

К ним добавились: младший брат Дрю - Майлс на барабанах, Пол Отуэй на басу и Жюль Дуглас - слайд-гитара, клавишные и вокал. После выступления в отеле Inglewood на Happy Mondays, и следующего за ним Big Day Out в 2000 году они подписали контракт с британским лэйблом LittleBIGMAN Records.

Их первый релиз, одноименный мини-альбом в 2002 году, был представлен в ротации на австралийской радиостанции Triple J и других радиостанциях по всей Австралии, чем они привлекли к себе внимание. Следующие два EPs This Day Last Year, и Kid You’re A Dreamer также транслировались на радио по всей Австралии.

В 2002 году The Panics были первой австралийской группой, приглашенной для участия в In The City, ежегодном фестивале музыки Великобритании.

В Англии они начали запись треков для своего дебютного альбома, частично он записывается в Манчестере (Великобритании), а остальное продюссируется совместно со Стивом Бондом в Австралии, а также Джереми Аллом (The La’s, Massive Attack).
