Circa Survive - это американская альтернативная рок-группа, состоящая из вокалиста Энтони Грина, бывшего вокалиста Saosin, и членов ныне прекратившей своё существование группы This Day Forward, включавшей в себя гитаристов Брендана Экстрома и Колина Франгицетто. В отличие от предыдущей команды Грина, музыка Circa Survive снабжена различными музыкальными влияниями таких артистов, как Paul Simon, Dredg и Björk; они имеют огромное влияние на вокал, а так же лирику группы.

После возвращения в свой родной город Филадельфия, Энтони Грин вернулся в аэропорт для возвращения в Калифорнию, к своим товарищам по Saosin. Однако, несмотря на посадку в городе Феникс, он вдруг осознал - несмотря на тот факт, что Saosin были близки к распаду, он знал, что возвращение будет для него мучительным. Отвечая на вопрос о своем решении покинуть Saosin он заявил, «Я оставил группу в первую очередь потому, что не хотел подписывать контракт с крупным лейблом». Он вернулся к Колину Франгицетто, его другу, который «застрял» во время своего пребывания в городе; и они решили начать запись и набор членов группы. Итак, Circa Survive родилась.

Колин Франгицетто и Энтони Грин, при полной поддержке со стороны Equal Vision Records, начали работу с Бренданом Экстромом. Экстром был напарником Франгицетто по This Day Forward, которая к тому времени распалась.
