As the first single is not "Closer" necessarily representative of the rest of the album, which are moving in the (admittedly not vast) musical tension between straight folk rocks, piano drive melancholy and warm countrypop. It is the latter expression is perhaps what best suits Amundsen, and the nicely built-up ballad "Someone Make Me Cry" will be served a qualities that gets one to fantasize about a Norwegian Taylor Swift. The bittersweet "September Song" is a successful step in another direction - a little bit darker and becoming vaksent.

September Blue is littered with many fine melodic subsequent payments, but the album still fails when it comes to lifted up one artist with a distinct personality. Feeling that the songs are typing with nose a little too far down in the pop-recipe book is hard to shake off, especially when violations pieces of songs that you believe certain to have heard before time and time again thrusts you into an annoying leaky musical play. The production, which Lars Hustoft, Martin Sjolie, Bright Lights and Frode Jacobsen has controlled most part of, is steady, but sometimes more than polished. It all will be as a little too obviously retouched photograph of a girl who initially is more than beautiful enough.

Texts suffer under a similar problem. To experience dramatic fluctuations in the love and emotional life is perhaps a natural part of being a teenager, but on September Blue are not these the experience expressed in a clever enough way that they appear credible. Put another way: One gets the impression that snare Amundsen has listened to many songs about broken hearts, and not that she herself has had her heart broken.

The album's greatest strength is the warmth and incredibly likeable qualities inherent in the Amundsen's voice, and Blue September is thus a very promising starting point for a broader career. If Frida Amundsen eventually get the chance to try out the material of the same quality as Robyn's "Be Mine", which she makes a quite nice cover version by the end of the album (it's also a song that is hard to really destroy), begins we talked to.
