Ukraine is probably the last place you’d expect to hear of an up-and-coming metal project, but Mourning Pyre proves that no matter what is happening in the world, music is alive and creativity never sleeps.

You wouldn’t believe it right away, but Mourning Pyre consists of just one man: Scott Elliott. No stranger to the world of music, Scott has crafted a very unique blend of elements, making the music both familiar and eccentric at the same time. Could you imagine that elements of melodic death metal, atmospheric black metal, and core attributes of doom metal could be blended so seamlessly in one project? Mourning Pyre does just that. Oh, with a healthy dose of ‘epic’.

Looking at the song titles, it’s clear that Mourning Pyre’s creator has been through some ups and downs, but as melancholic and depressing as it appears, the music turns out being ever more hopeful and uplifting.

What is even more evident is that these are not merely just a pack of songs crammed together in a hasty fashion. These are full-fledged compositions. Compositions from a soul that talk of pain, anger, passion, and grief...
