What I didn't know about Highlander before, but now do thanks to the B behind the vitamin (B):

There really is a “Highlander” anime.

The curious thing is how obvious an anime about the Highlander franchise is for those familiar with the film series, especially since the plot and premise are tailor-made for this adaptation and the added value I gained from it.

As in its predecessors, the story may interpret the premise in a somewhat peculiar way, but taken on its own, it works perfectly, providing enough fodder for epicness and the resulting action. Gerda is the highlight of the film and makes you wish that one day there might be an anime series (Netflix – we're looking at you) so that you can see it in even higher quality.

The anime style is both the strength and the “big” weakness of “Highlander: The Power of Vengeance.” The character design is fantastic, with its 80s anime charm of sharp-edged bones, lots of tousled hair, beards that are just as sharp and hard-edged, and hairstyles that combine the splendor of 70s/80s sideburns. As usual, I find CGI effects in anime distasteful, because no matter what I do, I notice them in most cases, and negatively at that, as they rarely look good, in my opinion.


Conclusion: the call for Netflix and a series remains.
