Pauline's baby's life hung in the balance, but while the doctors fought to keep her alive, Pauline was stranded at home, 50 miles from the hospital. Unable to have regular contact with her daughter, Pauline sunk into a deep depression. It was only when a stranger offered to give Pauline a lift to the hospital every day that Pauline was able to be with her baby. Happily, Pauline's daughter survived. But Pauline has never forgiven herself for not properly thanking the woman whose small act of kindness had such an enormous effect on her life.
