SYNOPSIS
You Belong to Me is a swooning, romantic title - unless, of course, the context is that of an unbalanced crazy person who thinks they know what's best for the object of their obsession! Cute New Yorker architect Jeffrey has just met and is 100% smitten with sexy Frenchman Rene, but when Rene doesn't get the sex he wants on the timetable he wants, he's quickly over it and unceremoniously dumps Jeffrey. Bewildered and hurt, Jeffrey can't understand - so he takes to spying on Rene. Turns out Rene already has another boyfriend (maybe boyfriends?)! Caught skulking around Rene's apartment complex by the building's kindly landlady Gladys (veteran actress Patti d'Arbanville), who has a clear affection for gay men.

Jeffrey jumps at the chance to further snoop around when she mistakes him for a potential new tenant, and lets him into the building. Impulsively, Jeffrey decides to rent Glady's second floor vacancy in order to get right up in Rene's face! From there, things get a whole lot more interesting - and dangerous as more secrets and obsessions begin to envelope Jeffrey. Part of a wave of young filmmakers who are taking classic genre scenarios and revitalizing them with gay twists, first-time feature director Sam Zalutsky has taken the spooky, paranoid early works of Roman Polanski (Rosemary's Baby, The Tenant) and created a fresh, invigorating, nasty little thriller that keeps getting better as it bullets home toward its shocker conclusion.
