Supported input formats

Generally, MakeMKV can process DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-ray disks.
DVD is fully supported with support for non-matching regions and ability to process disks with "structure copy protection". You should be able to just open any DVD disk and get a set of MKV files with all video, audio, subtitles streams and chapter information preserved. You shouldn't need any additional software to decrypt DVD files or remove region coding - MakeMKV will do everything.
HD-DVD support is limited and is likely to stay this way since HD-DVD lost the format war. Only "HD-DVD Advanced VTS" disks are supported. All video codecs (MPEG2/MPEG4/VC-1) and major audio HD codecs (E-AC3 and DTS-HD) are supported.
Blu-ray disks are fully supported.

System Requirements

OS: Windows XP or Vista
RAM: 512MB minimum, 1GB recommended. Program will run on computers with low memory amount but conversion speed will be very slow.
