Duikinstructrice Anne komt bij het onderzoek naar de mysterieuze dood van een duiker tot een afgrijselijke ontdekking.
Zijn verwondingen duiden erop dat hij is aangevallen door vliegende piranha's die ook boven water een levensbedreigend gevaar vormen.
Terwijl het ene na het andere dodelijke slachtoffer valt probeert Anne de eigenaar van het lokale strandhotel Club Elysium ervan te overtuigen de jaarlijkse strandbarbecue af te blazen.
Maar hij heeft maar één ding voor ogen: het ultieme eetfestijn. Wat een feestelijke avond had moeten worden mondt uit in een vreselijk bloedbad.
Als de hongerige piranha's in zwermen over het strand vliegen en hun messcherpe tanden in het vlees van de nietsvermoedende feestgangers zetten is er geen houden meer aan!
