Omri (Hal Scardino) krijgt op zijn negende verjaardag twee wel heel speciale cadeautjes. Het eerste is een kastje dat op het eerste gezicht doodnormaal lijkt. Het tweede is een plastic indiaantje, dat zijn beste vriend hem schenkt. Voor het slapen gaan, stopt hij het indiaantje in het kastje. Maar wanneer hij 's ochtends wakker wordt, ontdekt Omri iets vreemds: het indiaantje is tot leven gekomen...
