1940. Op een doodnormale ochtend trok de gehele bevolking van het dorpje Friar in
Nieuw-Engeland (572 mensen om precies te zijn), via een bergpad de wildernis in. Ze lieten al
hun kleding, geld en andere bezittingen, achter. Hun honden hadden ze vastgeketend, zodat ze zouden sterven. Niemand wist echter waarom ze dit alles deden. Wanneer het Amerikaanse leger een zoekactie onderneemt, vinden ze maar liefst 300 dode lichamen. De meesten van hen waren doodgevroren, maar sommigen waren op brute wijze afgeslacht. Men is bezig deze bittere waarheid te verdoezelen en het af te doen als een legende, en langzaam komen er weer mensen wonen in Friar. Dan begint er een expeditie de duistere wildernis in, met de bedoeling het hele mysterie rond de verloren burgers van Friar, op te lossen.

England (572 people to be exact), a mountain trail through the wilderness. They left all
their clothes, money and other belongings behind. They had chained their dogs so they would
die. But nobody knew why she did it all. When the U.S. military undertakes a search, they
found as many as 300 dead bodies. Most of them were frozen to death, but some were brutally massacred. People are busy this bitter truth to cover up and dismiss it as a legend, and slowly come back people living in the Friar. Thus began an expedition into the dark
wilderness, with the intention of the whole mystery surrounding the lost people of the Friar,
to solve.
