Na zijn geboorte op een strand in Californië, kruipt Sammy de schildpad naar zee en vindt daar de liefde van zijn leven, Shelly. Hij raakt haar echter meteen ook weer kwijt. Tijdens zijn reis die alle zeeschildpadden afleggen voordat ze weer terugkeren naar het strand waar ze geboren zijn, komt Sammy veel gevaren tegen, waaronder mensen. Maar gelukkig redden andere mensen hem ook weer. Al die tijd blijft hij hopen dat hij Shelly terugvindt. Samen met zijn vriendje Ray vecht hij met piranhas, ontsnapt aan een roofvogel en gaat op zoek naar een mysterieuze geheime doorgang.
English:

A sea turtle who was hatched in 1959 spends the next 50 years traveling the world while it is being changed by global warming.
After his birth on a beach in California, Sammy the turtle crawl to sea and find the love of his life, Shelly. He touched her once again but lost. During his journey, all sea turtles go before they return to the beach where they were born, Sammy comes from many dangers, including humans. Fortunately other people save him again. All the while he continues to hope he can find Shelly. Together with his friend Ray, he fights with piranhas, a bird of prey escapes and goes in search of a mysterious secret passage
