Plot:
The animated story of Bambi, a young deer hailed as the Prince of the Forest at his birth. As Bambi grows, he makes friends with the other animals of the forest, learns the skills needed to survive, and even finds love. One day, however, the hunters come, and Bambi must learn to be as brave as his father if he is to lead the other deer to safety.

Trama:
Il film è basato sul romanzo del 1923 Bambi, la vita di un capriolo (orig. Bambi, ein Leben im Walde) dell'austriaco Felix Salten. Nel libro i protagonisti sono Bambi, il giovane cerbiatto principe della foresta, i suoi genitori (il Grande Principe della foresta e la sua compagna senza nome) e i suoi amici Tamburino (un leprotto), Fiore (una puzzola), e Faline (una cerbiatta) sua amica d'infanzia e futura compagna.
