1968 Was het jaar dat de wereld begon te veranderen. Over de hele wereld braken rellen uit in de straten. Het was de tijd van de harddrugs, softdrugs, vrije liefde, psychedelische muziek, de schokkende moorden op Martin Luther King en Bobby Kennedy. De kranten werden gedomineerd door de oorlog in Vietnam. Voor vier jonge Aboriginal vrouwen is 1968 het jaar dat hun leven voor altijd veranderde. De zusters Gail, Julie en Cynthia worden samen met hun neef Kay ontdekt door Dave, een ongelukkige Ierse muzikant, met een voorliefde voor Ierse Whiskey en soulmuziek. Dave stuurt de meisjes naar de oorlogsgebieden in Zuid-Vietnam, waar ze klassieke soulliedjes zingen voor de Amerikaanse mariniers.
