Als Julius (Arnold Schwarzenegger) hoort dat hij een tweelingbroer heeft, neemt hij het eerste vliegtuig naar Californië. Daar ontmoet hij Vincent (Danny DeVito), zijn tweelingbroer. De twee zijn totaal verschillend: Julius is de goedheid zelve, terwijl Vincent steelt en continu op de vlucht is voor de maffia. Samen besluiten ze op zoek te gaan naar de waarheid achter hun verleden.

Many years ago an experiment was conducted to produce a perfect human being. Unfortunately there was a problem. The zygote split unevenly leaving two children - one with strength, brains, personality and love and the other one with what else was left!
