Terwijl een echtpaar de liefde bedrijft, valt hun kind uit het raam en sterft.
De vrouw raakt in een diepe depressie.
Haar man, zelf therapeut, wijst de medische behandeling die ze krijgt af en
wil haar genezen met rationele praatsessies.
De vrouw heeft een diepe maar onbestemde angst die verband lijkt te houden
met het woud waar ze eerder aan een historisch onderzoek naar religieus
gefundeerd geweld tegen vrouwen werkte.
Om haar met die angst te confronteren reist het paar af naar het woud dat de Bijbelse naam Eden draagt.

Told in four chapters with a prologue and epilogue, the film details acts of lustful cruelty as the man and woman unfold the darker side of nature outside and within.
