PLOT SUMMARY:
David Lynch's excellently shot and most talked about film from 1986. Frank(Denis Hopper) Kidnaps the husband and 5 year old son of a cabaret singer(Isabella Rosselini) and holds them for ransom, the payment is unspeakable. A young pair of inquisitive people (Kyle MacLachlan and Laura Dern) team up to try and solve the mystery of Blue Velvet. Fantastic use of emulsion film by Technicolor. Artist's, Photographers and Directors will appreciate it's wide contrast, vivid lighting, and scenic mood lighting at the start. The bright blue sky, shiny white picket fence, and yellow daffodils blowing melodically in a gentle breeze amongst brilliant green grass, panning slowly to a black wet road with a red fire engine passing by, and a waving fireman standing beside a gorgeous Dalmatian.
