Vijf jongeren gaan naar een afgelegen vakantiehuisje in de bossen.
Ze vinden een vreemd boek met een bandrecorder ernaast waar enkele passages uit het boek zijn vertaald.
Ze spelen de band af wat tot gevolg heeft dat er een demonische kracht vrijkomt die ze één voor één overneemt.
Niemand is meer veilig en Ash (Campbell) moet tegen z'n eigen vrienden vechten voor z'n leven.

Five friends go up to a cabin in the woods where they find unspeakable evil lurking in the forest.
They find the Necronomicon and the taped translation of the text. Once the tape is played, the evil is released.
