'The Other Guys' volgt detective Allen Gamble (Will Ferell), een forensisch accountant die meer geïnteresseerd is in het papierwerk dan de actie op straat en detective Terry Hoilz (Mark Wahlberg), die opgescheept zit met Allen als partner na een beschamende publieke vertoning.
