“American Tragedy” is the second studio album by American rap rock band Hollywood Undead, which is released this week. Hollywood Undead return with more postapocalyptic crunk on this album. They go hard, turning “party” from noun to verb on the synthesized bangers “Gangsta Sexy”, “Comin’ In Hot”, and “Lump Your Head”. But through the hedonistic haze, the sextet remove their stylized kabuki masks long enough to reveal red, saddened eyes on the Motley Crue “Home Sweet Home” vibe of “Pour Me” or the Kevin Rudolf-produced “Coming Back Down”. By showing they accept consequences and revealing vulnerability, Hollywood Undead are proving that even the most adamant partiers can get grown on American Tragedy.
