Alessio Rinaldi, un giovane regista di 25 anni, riceve l’incarico da parte di un produttore di scrivere la sceneggiatura del suo primo film insieme ad Ubaldo Terzani, affermato scrittore di romanzi horror. Alessio si trasferisce così in casa di Terzani per iniziare la collaborazione. Tra l’allievo entusiasta e il suo anziano maestro si instaura presto un rapporto di dipendenza e plagio della personalità: Ubaldo Terzani rivela progressivamente il suo lato oscuro, e Alessio si lascia trascinare in un abisso sempre più disperato di incubi e follia.
