A young girl has a disease which is incurable. Her father reads about a place where there lives a healer who can cure people. The healer lives in the Zone, a radioactive area that is controlled by the military and into which they must sneak. On their way they meet several inhabitants of the Zone, many of whom are mutants in some way.
