After watching a tiger "tiptoe through the water to avoid the crocodiles ganging up on it" in a wildlife reserve, Joanna arrives in majestic Delhi. She tries out at a call centre (she's hopeless), drops in on a magazine photoshoot (a little better), and meets some of the city's 100,000 homeless people. One has been living rough in a filthy trackside camp for 38 years. She’s overcome with emotion but thankfully does something practical to help.

The climax is her audience with the 14th Dalai Lama, who has an impish sense of humour and clearly delights in mild flirtation. But then almost everyone, well every man, tends to flirt with her a little. Even the seller in the Kashmiri floating market – where everyone seems to be selling leaves to each other - gets giddy in her company.
SUMMARY

Joanna's adventures across India conclude as she explores Rajasthan, Delhi and the mountainous North West, before ending in Kashmir, the place of her birth. Her first stop takes her to the Ranthambhore National Park, where she learns about the Wildlife Protection Society of India's tiger conservation programmes. Joanna's next stop takes her to the city of Delhi, where she begins her exploration of the capital at Humayun's Tomb, before ending her 5000 mile journey in Srinagar in Kashmi, the place where she was born.
