Abandon Ship is a sandboks marine strategy released for the Windows PC platform. This is the debut work of the British studio Fireblade Software.

The game is set in a fantasy land modeled on the so-called age of sails, or historical period lasting from the sixteenth to the mid-nineteenth century, during which commercial navies and war fleets consisted mostly of sailing ships. The world is randomly generated, so new adventures await us each time.

In the Windows Abandon Ship released on a PC, we play the role of the captain of a powerful sailing ship that goes on a long sea trip with the crew. While playing, he slowly accumulates experience points, which allows him to gradually improve his skills. There was also a crew development system and the ship itself. Interestingly, the sinking of the unit does not stop the game, because the captain can survive, for example, in a lifeboat or reach a deserted island. Our adventures come to an end only when the captain's death, which is always final and forces the game to start again.

The game world has an open structure and we decide ourselves which missions to take and how to develop our career. There were also various random events. At the same time, the main storyline also appears, in which we try to thwart the plans of a mysterious cult wishing to lead to the apocalypse. Many missions have big consequences for the rest of the campaign, changing the balance of forces in the land (including its geographic aspects) and creating new enemies or friends.

Abandon Ship also offers a tactically developed battle system that is played in real time. It requires the use of various maneuvers and efficient management of the crew.

An interesting element of Abandon Ship is graphic design. It was made in full 3D, but at the same time the authors focused on an unusual visual style reminiscent of oil paintings. The main source of inspiration for the creators were the works of painters such as William Turner, Iwan Ajwazowski, Willem Velde, James Wilson Carmichael or Ebenezer Colls.
