Si tratta di una selezione delle migliori registrazioni apparse sul precedente box With the Lights Out; all'interno di Sliver hanno trovato spazio tre brani mai pubblicati: Spank Thru dal demo del 1985 Fecal Matter, Sappy del 1990, registrata a Seattle e prodotta da Jack Endino, Come as You Are registrata durante le prove effettuate prima di Nevermind e presente nel demo Boombox.
Fra le tracce sono presenti anche la cover di Heartbreaker dei Led Zeppelin, il brano Old Age (non rientrato nella scaletta ufficiale di Nevermind) e una versione demo di All Apologies registrata da Kurt Cobain a casa sua.

This is a selection of the best recordings appeared on the previous box With the Lights Out; within Sliver found space three unreleased tracks: Spank Thru from the 1985 Fecal Matter demo, Sappy 1990, recorded in Seattle and produced by Jack Endino, Come as You Are recorded during the tests performed before Nevermind and present in Boombox demo.
Among the tracks are also present the cover of Led Zeppelin's Heartbreaker, the song Old Age (not returned in the official ladder of Nevermind) and a demo version of All Apologies recorded by Kurt Cobain to his house.
