Ambientato tra le campagne degli Stati Uniti meridionali durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, Mudbound è la storia epica di due famiglie, messe l'una contro l'altra da una gerarchia sociale spietata, eppure legate dalla terra che lavorano: il Delta del Mississippi. Set in the southern US countryside during the Second World War, Mudbound is the epic story of two families, set against each other by a ruthless social hierarchy, yet tied by the working ground: the Mississippi Delta. Mudbound follows the affair of the McAllan family, who recently moved to Mississippi from the quiet city of Memphis and is not prepared for the difficulties of country life. Despite grand dreams of Henry (Jason Clarke), his wife Laura (Carey Mulligan) continues to believe in her husband's hopeless projects. Meanwhile, Hap and Florence Jackson (Rob Morgan, Mary J. Blige), who have worked the land for generations, struggle with courage to realize their dreams despite the rigid social barriers they face. The war overthrows the plans of both families, while their loved ones just come back, Jamie McAllan (Garrett Hedlund) and Ronsel Jackson (Jason Mitchell) make a difficult friendship that will challenge the brutal reality they live in: the South of Laws Jim Crow.
