Beverly Hills Cop (1984) is an American comedy film directed by Martin Brest and starring Eddie Murphy. The film shot Murphy to international stardom as he started to become a mainstream actor. The film won the People\'s Choice Award for Favorite Motion Picture (1985) and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture - Comedy/Musical (1985). It earned an estimated $234 million at the box office.

This film is number 22 on Bravo\'s \"100 Funniest Movies\".

Beverly Hills Cop II is a 1987 live-action film starring Eddie Murphy and directed by Tony Scott. This is the sequel to the 1984 hit Beverly Hills Cop and was followed by Beverly Hills Cop III in 1994.

Paramount had planned a television series based on the 1984 original. Eddie Murphy refused the series but was willing to do a sequel.

Beverly Hills Cop III

Beverly Hills Cop III is a 1994 Eddie Murphy motion picture that was directed by John Landis, who had previously worked with Murphy on Trading Places and Coming to America. It was released on Wednesday, May 25 of that year, grossed a disappointing $44 million in the US and is the final chapter (so far) in the Beverly Hills Cop trilogy. Judge Reinhold reprises his role as Det. William Rosewood.

Production was temporarily shut down to allow the Paramount top brass the chance to get to grips with the film\'s spiraling budget. Originally estimated at $55 million, it was soon in excess of $70 million. Of that budget, $15 million was Eddie Murphy\'s paycheck.
