“Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has canceled a rally in California in order to shift his focus to the New York primary, his campaign said Thursday.

“Trump originally scheduled a campaign rally Friday afternoon at the Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles in Rancho Palos Verdes.

“Campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks confirmed that the real estate mogul, who resides in Manhattan and has a number of properties in New York City, will instead be campaigning in New York. She said he will head to the Golden State in upcoming weeks.

“New York and California are the two biggest delegate prizes left in the race. Trump needs strong showings in both states to get the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the GOP nomination.
