John Coltrane’s never before released 1961 performance at the Newport Jazz Festival.

At the time, his group consisted of a quintet with Trane as the only horn, plus piano, two basses, and drums.

As a bonus, we have added another complete performance from the same year, recorded in Helsinki, Finland, during the tour on which Eric Dolphy joined the group. This is the first time this set is presented in the correct pitch.

John Coltrane n'a jamais publié avant 1961 sa performance au Festival de jazz de Newport.

À l'époque, son groupe se composait d'un quintette avec Trane comme seul cuivre, avec un piano, deux basses et batterie.

En prime, nous avons ajouté une autre performance complète de la même année, enregistrée à Helsinki, en Finlande, lors de la tournée sur laquelle Eric Dolphy a rejoint le groupe. C'est la première fois que cet ensemble est présenté dans cet assemblage.
